  • LIBERIA CONSOLES GERMANY AS VP BOAKAI SIGNS BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

    Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, this afternoon, Monday, August 29, 2016, led an array of cabinet ministers to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, to sign a book of condolence for the fallen towering German Statesman, Walter Scheel.

    Mr. Scheel, a former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, died on August 24, 2016 at a ripe age of 97. He served in several high-level positions in the German social and political landscape, including Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Chancellor.

    Following the lead of VP Boakai and Chairman of the Cabinet, Defense Minister Brownie Samukai, several ministers signed the official Book of Condolence as the German Charge d’Affairs looked on.

    Some of those signing were Acting Foreign Minister Elias B. Shoniyin, Justice Minister Cllr. Frederick Cherue, Internal Affairs Minister Dr. Henrique F. Tokpah, Education Minister George K. Werner, Health Minister Dr. Bernice Dahn, and Deputy Information Minister Andrew Tehmeh.
