Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., is urging Liberians to take full ownership of the country and its economy by venturing into different types of businesses across the country.
When we do this, VP Boakai believes, Liberians would be on the way to taking full ownership of their country. “Because, if one can open doors of opportunities that will create jobs for others; then that person has begun to take ownership of his or her country.”
According to him, one who controls the economy is the one who automatically controls the purchasing power of anybody.
Ambassador Boakai reiterated his call to all Liberians, irrespective of status, to patronize their fellow Liberians who own businesses. Some of them will begin small, but we have to help them to grow by patronizing them regularly.
At the same, VP Boakai has admonished other Liberians to venture into laundry establishments, agriculture, marketing, etc., in the development of viable enterprises.
He was speaking on Wednesday when he cut the ribbon to open a newly established Liberian-own specialized shipping business; named USA 2 You-Liberia.
USA 2 You-Liberia, with head offices in Sinkor, Monrovia, is based in Wisconsin, USA, and is a 100 percent Liberian-owned business. It operates on the motto: “You Shop, We Ship, You Save!
The chief executive officer (CEO) or the managing partner of USA 2 You-Liberia, Joseph Boakai, Jr. said, the business specializes in shipping via air freight mainly to Liberia. It also operates an internet shipping component—an exercise which, prior to the inauguration of the USA 2 You-Liberia, has never been possible in the country.
“For now, we will be shipping to Liberia two times a month, basically medical supplies because of the Ebola outbreak, but as of December, USA 2 You-Liberia will begin sea cargo shipping as well.”
Mr. Boakai’s other partners in the establishment of the business are Jallah Kesselly, and Atty. Nya Gbaintor, among others.
The entity, accordingly, offers services to overseas customers, providing them the opportunity to purchase items from U.S.-based websites. “We provide an economical, secure, weekly consolidation that transports packages from on-line stores to the customer’s door. Some materials the company intends to ship are shoes, clothes, auto parts, electronics, sporting goods, skin care products, school supplies, pet supplies and gift items.
“USA2YOU will provide a ‘Ship to Address’ that will allow the customer to purchase from U.S.-based websites. On-line stores require that the packages be sent to an address in the United States or the sale is rejected.
It will accept receipt of the customer’s package, verify the purchase, and cut down the carton or re-bagging of items to reduce shipping volume. This will reduce the customer’s charges where the shipping invoice will be emailed to the customer to be paid on this web site’s e-commerce page.
USA2YOU will then consolidate all packages received for the week, prepare documentation, ship via air transport, clear customs in your country, and make the customer’s packages available to be retrieved at its partner’s facility in their respective areas of the world, or it will deliver to customer’s home.
