Monrovia, February 15, 2017- Vice President Joseph Boakai has spoken of the strong and universal support expressed for Liberia, its people and the transition the country has made from war, to peace and that the world was watching Liberia as the nation moves towards the historic presidential and legislative elections scheduled for October this year.
Vice President Boakai said Liberia has made progress despite the economic challenges prevailing in the country and that in his words was aware of persistent calls for permanent solutions to economic problems by the people, but called for greater cooperation among the legislature, the Economic Management Team and the Cabinet to discuss measures aimed at addressing our current economic challenges.
Vice President Boakai was speaking Tuesday on arrival at the Roberts International Airport from the United States where he had gone to represent the Government and people of Liberia and the Annual National Congressional Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C.
Addressing newsmen on arrival at the RIA Wednesday, Vice President Boakai who is also Chairman of the Unity Party said both stakeholders in the public and private sectors must come together to finding a lasting solution to the economic problems, adding ‘we have to continue to remain patriotic, resolute and united and stressed that we must do away with corruption as a major step to reconciling our people.”
