VICE PRESIDENT BOAKAI COMMENDS THE INDIAN CONTINGENT SERVING WITH UNMIL
Monrovia, February 2, 2016- Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has commended the United Nations Mission in Liberia for the many sacrifices made to maintain peace and stability in Liberia and noted that despite the challenges faced at home by contributing nations , they are proud to serve in other countries for the attainment of international peace and tranquility. Vice President Boakai said there can be no higher sacrifice than to leave your country, family and friends and move to another country to serve in the interest of world peace, a release from the Office of the Vice President said. Vice President Boakai made the remarks Tuesday when a delegation of the Indian Contingent serving in the United Nations Mission in Liberia accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of India to Liberia, Mr.Upjit Singh Sachdeva paid a courtesy call on him at His Capitol Building Office. He referred to the Indian Contingent as professional and disciplined soldiers and made specific reference to the Female Contingent adding, “We appreciate them because they brought so much on board.” Vice President Boakai emphasized that peace and stability are cardinal requirements for the economic growth of any nation and underscored that is was the duty of all nations to be at peace with themselves and with the international community, a release from the VP Office went on to say. The Honorary Consul informed the Vice President that the Indian contingent will soon depart Liberia due to the drawdown of the United Nations Mission in Liberia.
