    Monrovia, January 26, 2017
    Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has arrived in the United States to participate in the 65thAnnual National Prayer Breakfast, a long standing event held on the first Thursday of February each year with over three thousand influential people from around the world including the President of the United States, members of Congress, leaders throughout the United States and the Diplomatic community from over one hundred and forty countries in attendance.
    According to the invitation extended Vice President Boakai, “members of the Congress of the United States of America request the pleasure of your company at the 65th Annual National Prayer Breakfast with the President of the United States and other national leaders in the Executive, Judicial and Legislative Branches of our Government.”
    A release from the Office of the Vice President said Vice President Boakai is accompanied to the event by Alphonso Gaye, Senator of Grand Gedeh County, Neto Lighe, Minister of Labor and three advisors on Policy, political, and international Affairs and a support staff headed by his Chief of Staff, Samuel A. Stevquoah.
    Enroute to Washington D.C. Vice President Boakai will stopover in Columbus, Ohio where he is expected to meet with the Governor of that State and the City Mayor of Columbus and also attend a town hall meeting organized by the Liberian community in Columbus, Ohio.
    While in Ohio, Vice President Boakai will also represent the Government of Liberia at the funeral services of Madam Ruth Sando Fahnbulleh-Perry, Former Head, and Council of State of the Republic of Liberia and also meet with the Federation of Liberian Associations in Ohio according to the release.
    Further activities planned for the Vice President include a meeting with United States Senator Chris Coons, a scheduled meeting with the Oregon State Delegation and other Senators that serve on the national prayer breakfast committee.
    Other events the Vice President will participate in while in Washington D.C. include the Africa Reception, the VIP reception, and a tour of the Old Supreme Court by Historian David Barton which will be hosted by Senator James Inhofe and others.
    “Since the inception of the National Prayer Breakfast in 1953 with President Dwight D. Eisenhower, this event has served as a time for leaders to come together to acknowledge the significance and impact of  prayer and faith on both their lives and the nation” the release concluded.
