VOTER REGISTRATION IS FUNDAMENTAL PILLAR OF OUR DEMOCRACY-Vice President Boakai
Monrovia, January 19, 2017-Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has called on Members of the House of Representatives and the House of Senate to encourage residents in their districts and Counties to register to vote from February 1 to March 7, 2017, which according to the Vice President is a key element in ensuring that all qualified constituents exercise their right to vote.
Vice President Boakai said voter registration is a fundamental pillar of our democracy as it establishes and affirms the right of adult citizens to participate in the affairs of Government, and qualifies him or her to vote in free and fair elections.
The Vice President’s call was contained in separate letters addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Emmanuel J. Nuquay and Honorable Armah Z. Jallah, President Pro-Tempoare of the Liberian Senate In Session.
According to a release, Vice President Boakai said he was confident that every one of us can play a constructive role in voter registration, election, and participation and each of us should take time off and do so.
Vice President Boakai pointed out in both communications to the two Houses that ‘we have come a long way and we should do all we can to continue to Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia.
He then wish both Houses warmest felicitations of a happy new year, the release concluded.
