VP BOAKAI BIDS UNMIL CONTINGENT DETAIL FAREWELL

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai today, Wednesday, May 18, 2016, serenaded UNMIL military personnel assigned to his security detail for the past nine months. The VP cited the professional manner in which the Contingent conducted itself and even more than that reaching out to help in many other areas of his engagements. It is a tradition in the Office of the Vice President to recognize contributions of departing personnel who have served in the Detail.
The ceremony, which took place at the Vice President’s Residence in the Rehab Community, also witnessed the issuance of certificates of appreciation. It also say the wife of VP Boakai, Mrs. Kartumu Y. Boakai, showering praises on the members of the group for their invaluable services.
Contingent Commander Sgt. Amos Williams registered the appreciation of himself and his men to the Vice President.
This is last contingent that was assigned to the Vice Presidential Security Detail and marks part of the UNMIL drawdown.
Meanwhile, a large batch of Liberia National Police’s Police Support Unit (PSU) has been deployed to fill the void left by the UNMIL departure.
