Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, took time off his busy schedule at the World Humanitarian Summit to meet with a representative group of the Liberian Students Association of Turkey (LIBSAT) at his Marmarma Taksim Hotel in Istanbul. Leading the delegation was Mr. Mohammed Amjad Sonnie who was designated by LIBSAT President Sam Sumo. Mr. Sumo resides a distance away in the Turkish Capital, Ankara, and could not make it to the meeting. In their presentation the students cited the absence of Liberia’s representation in Turkey or nearby at Ambassadorial or Consular level which the pointed out was causing them much hardship. They also told the VP that in their show of patriotism and love for country they try to stage befitting programs annually marking Liberia’s Independence Day. They solicited the VP support in helping them to make this year’s celebration possible and enjoyable. VP Boakai thanked the students for their worthy pursuits in that country and cautioned them to remain law abiding. He assured that he will add increased voice to ongoing efforts to open a diplomatic or consular mission in that part of the world. He pledged to do his Widow”s Might to help make the July 26 celebration possible. Gender and Social Protection Minister Julia Duncan Cassell also attended the and provided the students some words of motivation.
