We African leaders have a responsibility to ensure that conditions at home don’t force our citizens to flee Africa- Vice President Boakai warns

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has called on African Nations to create conditions in their countries that will encourage their citizens to stay at home and not seek greener pastures at the peril of their lives.
Vice President Boakai said ‘we African leaders have a responsibility to ensure that conditions at home don’t force our citizens to flee Africa, get on make shift boats or trek through the desert resulting in the deaths of thousands of our people.
Vice President Boakai was speaking in Bern, Geneva during a meeting with the Vice President of Switzerland, Alain Berset at the Federal Building a dispatch from Geneva said.
Vice President Boakai called on the European Union to give greater support to African Countries in terms of job creation as a means to curbing the influx of Africans into Europe.
He pointed out that he is sadden each time he hears of mass deaths in the Mediterranean sea and the Sahara Desert of African brothers and sisters who are fleeing their motherlands to seek new life in Europe and other parts.
On the itinerary of the Vice President, he will meet with the UNHCR High Commissioner, Mr. Filippo Grandi, the WHO Director General Dr. M. Chan and the United Nations Director Moeller all in Geneva. He will also meet with the Swiss Minister of Defense and Sport, Guy Parmelin and Former Secretary General of the United Nations Dr. Kofi Anna at the Annan Foundation in Geneva, the dispatch said.
